About The School Council
Fern Avenue P.S. School Council, a not-for-profit organization, is a collective of parents who work to support and enhance student learning at Fern Avenue P.S.
What we do:
- Provide a forum for parents to advocate on behalf of students
- Facilitate communication between parents and school administration
- Advise school administration (e.g. arts emphasis, technology purchases, grade 7 & 8 lunch, TDSB Classroom Allocation Process)
- Fundraise to provide “enhancements”
Additional Programs in 2018/2019
- Arts Collective, to provide artist-educator programming: $6,000
- Scientist in the School in all 30 classrooms: $4,000
- STEM Junior and Senior Clubs: $2,000
- STEM Day/Night for the whole school: $2,500
- Grade 8 graduation/Grade 8 trip: $2,500
- Food Committee, to subsidize the Food Program: $500
- Library for Forest of Reading Program: $2,600
We Need Your Support to Revitalize the Fern Playground
Why A New Playground?
The old schoolyard had major drainage issues, damaged hardscaping, limited and outdated playground equipment, minimal shade coverage and windbreaks, and insufficient seating and other points of interest. The playground enhancement project will give Primary students more opportunities for free play and sensory activities. For the Juniors, there will be more room to perform and explore. And for the Seniors, there will be more room to shoot hoops and eat, and more reasons to stay at school during lunch!
